Why Do I Need Gods Strength

Ephesians 6:12 We wrestle... against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Read Ephesians 6:10-17.

The Christian life is not child*s play. Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Nevertheless, many a Christian has experienced defeat because he failed to consider the seriousness of the warfare. Satan is a defeated foe because of Christ*s triumph. But the battle is still going on. That is where we come in. We need to realize that our encounters with Satan are only one phase of the campaign. The time is coming when there will be full demonstration of the Savior*s right to reign, when every knee shall bow and tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord (Phil. 2:10-11). In the interim, our blessed Lord *causes us to triumph* as we appropriate by faith-day after day after day-the benefits of His finished work. You may have heard the story of the orphan boy who was adopted by a rich gentleman and all of a sudden had a palatial home, new clothes, and a room of his own. *Whatever you want,* said the gracious benefactor, *just ask for it. I have put $10,000 in the bank in your name and you can draw from it any time. Here is the bankbook.* The lad was thrilled but somewhat incredulous. At the bank, he told a teller, *I would like to withdraw some of my money.* Do you know how much he withdrew? Just ten cents. Never before having had a dime to call his own, he was going to have one now, the limit of his idea of riches. Spiritually, many of us are like that adopted son. If we are to have *strength for anything,* we must give up our minuscule notions and by faith appropriate the strength of Almighty God which is always available to us.
